Vision

Building a legacy where Catholic values flourish in Manitoba.

Mission

Supporting education, service and works in the Catholic tradition.

The Catholic Foundation of Manitoba fulfills this mission by:

Making wise and effective distributions that promote works and values in the Catholic tradition while respecting the wishes of donors.

Maintaining the purchasing power of funds entrusted to the Foundation, achieving maximum returns consistent with prudent investment and assuring sound financial management practices so that the legacy created by the donor is respected in perpetuity.

Providing service to the Catholic and broader community by recognizing opportunities to support charitable organizations that care for the needy and underprivileged, educate youth, and promote Catholic values within the five dioceses in Manitoba.

Developing strong and meaningful relationships to advance the causes that donors hold dear by helping them fulfill their charitable goals and by honouring the legacies entrusted to the Foundation.

Providing information about what the Foundation supports and promoting Catholic values and connections within and beyond the Catholic community.

Core Values

In keeping with our mission and vision, we value:

True Christian charity. This underlies all we do and our other values. This is also why our main fundraising event and celebration of the Catholic community in Manitoba is called the Caritas Award Dinner.

Every person is made in the image and likeness of God. The dignity of every person, independent of ethnicity, creed, gender or any other characteristic. Respect for life, educating and empowering all persons to reach their potential and ensuring everyone’s basic needs are met.

Everyone in society should share in goods and have access to common services which promote human decency of all or the common good. Solidarity with all who work for the common good, with a preferential option for the poor and socially excluded in society.

Caring for the physical environment, and also carefully using the talents and goods that God has given to everyone. Ensuring the environment and the resources of the earth are used respectfully, developed and maintained for future generations.

Supporting the family as the foundation of faith and society.

To actively work for human dignity, addressing unjust structures, respecting differences, opposing discrimination and acting with care and concern for those in need.

To work with all in the community towards long-term relationships and structures which support peace, reconciliation and harmony between people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs. Collaborating with organizations and individuals with consideration and fairness.

Conducting our work in an honest and responsible manner with transparency, accountability and integrity.

To lead with humility for the sake of faith and meeting the practical needs of the poor and underprivileged.
